Checking out of a London hotel at 10am can leave you with hours to fill before an evening train or flight. Dayuse lets you book selected hotel rooms for part of the day, so you have somewhere private to leave your bags, rest, work or take a shower.

It is not the cheapest solution for every traveller, but it can make a long and tiring final day much easier.

When is a day room useful?

A Dayuse room can be worth considering when:

  • Your hotel makes you check out early but you leave London late
  • You arrive in the morning and cannot check into your accommodation yet
  • You have a long connection between flights or trains
  • You need a quiet place to work and take calls
  • You want to shower and change before an evening journey
  • A child or travelling companion needs somewhere comfortable to rest

London listings include central hotels and properties near airports such as Heathrow. Available hotels, prices and time slots change with the date.

How Dayuse works

Booking a London day room

  1. Choose your location and date.

Search near your station, airport or the area where you plan to spend the day.

  2. Compare the time slots.

A cheap room is not useful if its checkout time is hours before your departure.

  3. Check what is included.

Confirm whether you can use the gym, pool, Wi-Fi or luggage storage. Facilities vary by hotel and offer.

  4. Read the payment and cancellation terms.

Some bookings are paid at the hotel, while others require a fee or payment online.

  5. Check in with your confirmation.

Bring the booking email and photo identification requested by the hotel.

Dayuse advertises time slots between early morning and late evening, although each hotel chooses its own hours. A booking gives you the room only for the stated period, not overnight.

Is Dayuse cheaper than booking another night?

It often can be. Dayuse says participating rooms may cost up to 75% less than an overnight stay, but this is a maximum rather than a guaranteed saving. Compare the day price with the hotel’s normal rate before booking.

Also compare the total cost with simpler alternatives:

  • Only need to leave your bags? Hotel or station luggage storage will probably cost less.
  • Waiting for a flight? Compare the room with an airport lounge, including travel to the hotel.
  • Travelling as a couple or family? Sharing one room can make the price easier to justify.
  • Need sleep, privacy or a shower? A proper room offers much more than a luggage locker or café.

Check the location carefully

London distances can be deceptive. A room that looks cheaper may add two Underground journeys and more time with luggage.

For an evening Eurostar, look around St Pancras and King’s Cross. For a train from Paddington, staying nearby can also make the Heathrow journey easier. If you are flying, check whether the hotel is inside the airport, connected to a terminal or requires a shuttle.

The best-value room is normally the one that fits naturally between your daytime plans and departure point.

Dayuse questions

Do I need to stay overnight?
No. Dayuse bookings are for a stated daytime or evening slot. You check out at the end of that period.
Can I leave luggage in the room?
Yes, during your booked room time. Ask the hotel directly if you need it to hold bags before check-in or after the Dayuse slot ends.
Is hotel cancellation free?
Many flexible bookings can be cancelled without charge before check-in, but some offers include prepaid fees or different conditions. Read the cancellation line on the exact room before confirming.
Can I use the pool or spa?
Only when the specific offer includes access. A hotel having a pool does not automatically mean every Dayuse booking includes it.
Will the hotel ask for a bank card?
It may. Even if you pay at the hotel, the property can request a card or deposit at check-in. The booking page should show the payment conditions.
Is Dayuse suitable for families?
Some rooms may suit families, but occupancy rules differ. Confirm the number and ages of all guests before booking rather than assuming a standard room will accommodate everyone.
