First Table helps restaurants fill quieter early tables. Pay a booking fee, dine at the time shown and receive 50% off the food bill for two to four people.
Drinks remain full price, so this works best when the food saving is comfortably larger than the booking fee.
How First Table works
Book a discounted London meal
- Search London restaurants.
Open First Table, choose a date and check the available times.
- Read the restaurant conditions.
Check the diner limit, menu exclusions, booking fee and cancellation terms.
- Pay the booking fee.
The current standard fee shown by First Table is £6, but confirm it before paying.
- Arrive at the booked time.
Tell the restaurant you booked through First Table and order from the eligible menu.
- Check the final bill.
The restaurant should remove 50% from eligible food. Drinks, service and excluded items remain payable.
Is First Table actually cheaper?
For four people sharing £100 of eligible food, the discount reduces the food to £50. After a £6 booking fee, the saving is £44 before drinks and service.
For two people ordering only £20 of food, the discount is £10. After the booking fee, the effective saving is much smaller.
| Eligible food total | 50% food saving | Saving after a £6 fee |
|---|---|---|
| £30 | £15 | £9 |
| £60 | £30 | £24 |
| £100 | £50 | £44 |
This calculation does not include drinks, service charges or transport to the restaurant.
First Table or EatClub?
Both services help restaurants fill quieter times, but they work differently.
| First Table | EatClub | |
|---|---|---|
| Main saving | 50% off eligible food | Live discounts that can reach 50% |
| Drinks | Normally excluded | Can be included in the live offer |
| Cost to access | Booking fee | No separate booking fee on the offers we checked |
| Timing | Selected early or off-peak tables | Live times shown in the app |
| New-user benefit | Check current promotions | Our current guide includes £20 new-user credit |
Read our EatClub London new-user guide before choosing. Compare the restaurant, time and final expected cost rather than assuming one platform always wins.
Important checks before booking
- Confirm exactly how many people the offer covers.
- Read menu exclusions before choosing the restaurant.
- Check whether the service charge is calculated before or after the discount.
- Cancel through First Table if your plans change.
- Arrive on time because the discount is connected to a particular table and period.
- Do not split a group into misleading bookings to avoid the diner limit.
