What happens on the walk?

The group will move slowly through the cemetery while paying attention to the sights, sounds and textures of early autumn. The guide will introduce grounding breathwork, mindful walking and prompts for reflecting on the changing season.

The session also includes nature-based wellbeing coaching and time to pause and discuss the experience. Participants receive digital resources with simple breathing, grounding and mindfulness practices to revisit afterwards.

This is not a fitness class and you do not need experience of meditation or mindfulness. However, the route lasts around an hour and crosses uneven outdoor ground, so the organiser says a basic level of mobility is needed.

What to bring

Wear sturdy, comfortable shoes and clothes suitable for the weather. The organiser recommends bringing water, a waterproof layer if rain is possible, and an optional notebook and pen for the reflective part of the session.

The walk continues in light rain. Ardu Wellbeing plans to contact booked participants if severe weather means the session must be rearranged.

Getting to the Linden Grove entrance

Meet at the Linden Grove gates, not one of the cemetery’s other entrances. Nunhead railway station is less than a ten-minute walk away. The P12 and 78 buses stop near the far end of Linden Grove.

Nunhead Cemetery has sloping paths and some uneven woodland surfaces. Contact the organiser before booking if you are unsure whether the route will meet your access needs. Southwark Council asks Blue Badge visitors who need vehicle access to arrange it at least 48 hours in advance on a working day.
